OYEA History
OYEA was first created by church leadership in 2005 as a means to connect the youth of several Lutheran churches on O'ahu.
Since its early days, OYEA has regularly taken Hawaii youth to national church conferences and summer camps on the mainland. The initial success and enthusiasm for OYEA events prompted the formation of an OYEA Board of Directors and the position of OYEA Youth Director.
OYEA officially became registered as a non-profit organization in 2008.
OYEA continues to grow its leadership core (youth leaders at all seven congregations). Both the OYEA Board of Directors and the OYEA Youth Director collaborate with church pastors and community leaders to direct the vision and impact of OYEA on a monthly basis.
